Disney-Inspired Brownies (Easy Magical Stencil Idea!)

Are you ready to turn an ordinary pan of brownies into pure Disney magic? With nothing more than a sheet of wax paper, a sprinkling of powdered sugar, and your favorite brownie recipe (store-bought works, too!) you can transform basic brownies into a bite-sized trip down Main Street USA! Make these Mickey Mouse Brownies with a quick DIY stencil and create instant Disney magic – no fairy godmother required!

Mickey-Shaped Happiness

I love super-easy make-at-home treats and this one looks like it came right out of the case in the Main Street Bakery. The ambiance of Main Street USA might not be there, but these brownies are sure to put a Cheshire Cat smile on your face. How can you not be happy when eating something Mickey-shaped?

Unpopular Opinion?

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Main Street USA is one of my favorite areas in all of Walt Disney World. Why you might ask? So many reasons! I’ll narrow my list down for you…

First of all, the glaring reason that I love it so much is for the view! When I step on to Main Street and get that breathtaking view of Cinderella’s Castle I am completely in my happy place. It never gets old! Whether it is the first time seeing it or the many, many times after, that sight just gets me a little bit choked up.

Second, I’ll admit, I might enjoy retail therapy just a little bit. Set me loose in the Emporium any day! My motto is: “If you see the thing and you want the thing, buy the thing!” (I am NOT here to help you be a mature, financially responsible adult!)

There is one thing that I always see on Main Street that just fills me with immediate and overwhelming joy – the sight of a huge bunch of colorful Mickey balloons slowly floating back and forth in the breeze! Anyone who doesn’t feel immensely delighted by these helium filled vessels of joy is just dead inside. (I mean completely dead – just go find your spot in the Haunted Mansion cemetery immediately. Here lies Sir Joyless McDullington – Joyless then, motionless now.”)

For the Mickey Mouse Brownies You will need…

  • brownies
  • powdered sugar
  • wax paper
  • scissors
  • writing utensil
  • Optional: Mickey cookie cutter (I got a set of 5 assorted sizes for around $6 online)

How to Create a Magical Mickey Stencil

1.) You obviously need some brownies. I used the Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownie mix – you can use your favorite mix, make them from scratch, or buy some plain ones in the store. There are no rules here. Well, just one rule – make sure they are completely 100% cool before attempting to sprinkle the powdered sugar on top! Melted powdered sugar is sad. Boo. 0/10 stars.

2.) Prepare the stencil. Cut a piece of wax paper large enough to cover the top of your brownies. It can then be cut up into a design that you like. You can certainly free-hand it – but, that is definitely NOT where I shine. So, I just grabbed one of my Mickey cookie cutters to trace onto the wax paper. (My brownie pan is 13″x9″ so having 15 brownies seemed like the perfect size.)

I traced Mickey on alternating squares and tossed the solid squares in between so that those brownies would be completely covered in powdered sugar. Every other brownie had a Mickey Mouse stencil so that just the Mickey shape would have powdered sugar. This is just a suggestion though, get creative!

3. Carefully sift the powdered sugar over top of the stencil to create that crisp Mickey Mouse powdered sugar design.

4. Gently lift up your stencil(s) and admire your magical handywork! Once you are satisfied with your powdered sugar art, carefully cut apart your Mickey Mouse brownies and enjoy!

Main Street in Every Brownie Bite

As you bite into one of these chewy, fudgy, Mickey Mouse brownies, close your eyes and imagine that you’re walking down that red sidewalk of Main Street, headed straight for the castle. It’s just about time to watch “Let the Magic Begin” and officially start your day in the park!
