Sweet & Salty Maple Popcorn

An addicting sweet and salty maple popcorn treat!
Course: Dessert, Snack

Ingredients

Popcorn
  • 12 cups popped popcorn (~1/2 c unpopped jumbo kernels)
  • salt (to your taste)
Maple Butter
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • tsp baking powder

Method

  1. Pop the popcorn - any way you choose! I use an air popper but you can certainly get some microwavable popcorn or buy it already popped. No matter how you do it, you'll need 12 cups of popped popcorn.
  2. While the popcorn is still warm, salt it to your taste.
  3. In a small saucepan on the stove, bring the maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Stir in the baking soda.
  5. Immediately drizzle the maple mixture over the popcorn and start stirring until it is evenly coated.
  6. Pour the popcorn onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 250° for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  7. Once it is removed from the oven, stir it one more time and let it cool off for a few minutes. ENJOY!!!! Warning: you won't be able to stop eating it!
